This weekend I had the honor of attending the local elementary school basketball tournament. Though my daughter plays for Johnson Elementary School Eagles, it was nice to see pure competitiveness and sportsmanship at its core. We live in an age where College Sports, Professional Sports and even some High School teams can take a page out of the book written by these 4th and 5th graders.

As I sat there in awe as these youngsters battled to try to gain access into the championship game held tonight and ultimately shedding a tear with them as they cried from coming up short, I couldn't help but think of the purity of the moment and how amazing the idea of having a true Competitive Balance.

We all often take for granted the idea that life has become an ever revolving door. One that continues to revolve no matter what the circumstances we face. Though we may be thrown for a loop on many occasions, but it’s been programmed in us from the day we were born to be competitive, to rise up when we fall, to endure the bad times and be thankful for the good times. That’s why it is so important to keep a healthy Competitive Balance in our lives.

Do this and I guarantee we all can experience and reap the rewards that come with having a Competitive Balance. Take a page from my book, go and watch a ballgame that your child is playing in, or a friend’s child is playing and witness in wonder the true purity of a Competitive Balance.
