The Future of Subaru's Eyesight Technology

Eyesight Technology, Designed by Subaru.

The development of the Subaru Eyesight Technology has earned Subaru countless IIHS awards for best frontal crash ratings on models equipped with this innovative system.Currently Subaru offers the Eyesight Technology on the new Outback, Legacy and Forester models. Some other automakers have already adapted similar variations of Lane Departure and Adaptive Cruise Control but none (that I know of yet) offer all the same features that Subaru is currently offering with their Subaru Eyesight Technology.

Here's a great video that further explains the Subaru Eyesight Technology followed by my notes after that highlight the important points.

The Subaru Eyesight Technology includes:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control - Set the distant you'd like to keep between you and the car in front of you and the Subaru Eyesight technology will automatically apply the brakes when that distance is reduced.
  • Lane Departure & Sway Warning - The Subaru Eyesight system will alert you when you start to drift out of your lane to ensure that you can correct it since it is not available to steer your car just yet. (I see this happening in the near future though!)
  • Pre-Collision Braking - Designed to alert you of front crash impacts and apply the brakes in emergency situations.
  • Pre-Collision Throttle Management - This system monitors objects/cars in front of you and reduce engine power to minimize the possible impact of a frontal crash.

The IIHS has awarded the Subaru Eyesight Technology with the best score for Front Crash Prevention. The 2014 Subaru Outback, 2014 Subaru Legacy and 2015 Subaru Forester equipped with the Lane Departure, Adaptive Cruise Control as well as Subaru Eyesight Technology; Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Braking and Pre-Collision Throttle Management have also received this IIHS award and recognition. Shop at Ramsey Subaru for your next new Subaru car or crossover and test drive the Subaru Eyesight Technology program today!
