As I shined my shoes for work this morning I reflected on the many pairs of shoes I have shined preparing for a day's work on the car lot. The many different styles and brands of shoes I have been through. I reflected on the many things I have witnessed in all those pairs of shoes. The many lessons I have learned.
The many people I have met in those shoes. The many different personalities and faces.
The many deals I have sold, penciled, or closed. The many people I have trained in the business. The many different cars I have sold. The many different trials and struggles I endured while learning my profession.
The many credit applications and bureaus I have studied, the many banks I have called to get exceptions. The many TV and radio spots, the many sales goals, the many months that seem to all be just a blur now.
The many late nights and many early mornings. The many hot days and many cold days. The many beautiful days and the many stormy days. The many times I've been too excited or anxious to sleep well. The many times I have been worn completely out and went home to sleep like a rock. The many times I have excitedly hurried to work, and the many times I was so excited to get off and go home.
The many laughs, and the many fears.
The many industry revolutionizing scares I've been through that never seemed to change the industry much. The many changes we have incurred that reminded me the more things change the more they stay the same.
These many shoes I've been through could tell many stories if they could talk.
But most of all I thought of the many blessings from God that the car business has afforded me while I wore those shoes. So many blessings I can't begin to list them.
See, most car guys are usually in their work shoes while they attend life's blessings, weddings, births, first days of school, and graduations. We typically have our work shoes on for ball games, birthday parties, holiday gatherings and family dinners. We even worship in our work shoes. Thank you Lord, I humbly ask that you please allow me to go through many, many, more pairs of shoes.

CAN I GET AN AMEN TO THAT BROTHERS AND SISTERS!?! (Hey Rog, did you have some kind of epiphany that brought this post on, or are you just happy to be on the "right side of the grass"?
Amen, Roger. All of us in this business can relate.
