People are more mobile than ever and this has become most evident by the amount of choices and variety of international food in any country. The international stores and, in particular, grocery stores cater to the many ethnic foods and tastes – it’s like bringing a little bit of home to your new country or location. There is no doubt that food fusion continues to evolve, just look at many restaurants and you’ll see that some dishes may have different ethnicities. It doesn’t stop there, the international presence also helps to sell clothing and styles, toys, electronics, and just about anything you could buy locally. Of course to facilitate the need for distribution of international goods, many box stores and investment groups expand to offer these same brands by setting up operations in various countries – they bring the retail identity to your neighborhood.

According to Supermarket News, a leading nationally circulated trade magazine for the food distribution industry, a partial list of the top 25 worldwide food retailers includes the following:

My-Healthy-Market – this is a new trend in the international grocery food market because they are open 24-hours per day, seven-days-per week. My Healthy Market is a fast growing multidimensional selling platform focused on connecting those who would like to change the world into a better place. They are a global supermarket and organic marketplace for seller and buyer of all organic health benefiting, environment and life quality improving products.  

Aldi – this global grocery chain includes locations in 18 countries and has been in business for over 100 years since starting in Essen, Germany. Aldi prides itself on being a market leader and most recently, they announced that all of their stores will be removing products containing certified synthetic colors, hydrogenated oils, and mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) ingredients which will be healthier for their 30 million customers.

Kitano Ace - located in is an area in Naka-ku, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan, and Kitano Ace stocks a decent range of international fine foods and drinks. Although a little pricey, due to its location, it is very central and well presented. They also have stores located throughout Japan from Okinawa to Hokkaido and offer their products online as well. They make it very easy to order your groceries online, just a six-step process to your door.

Lee Lee International Supermarket – this store’s food selection spans from China to Brazil and beyond and it includes over 200,000 authentic flavors and exotic tastes from a total of 30 countries. All of these authentic flavors of home mean that you’ll find an international supermarket that brings the culinary traditions from all over of the world under one roof. They’ve received numerous awards over the past 20 years and are actively promoting multi-cultures in the communities through sponsored dances.

Loblaw – this chain is Canada’s food and pharmacy leader and their portfolio include real estate, banking, wireless mobile products and services, general merchandise, apparel, and health and beauty products. Their purpose, Live Life Well, means that they are strategically positioned to meet and exceed those needs with convenient locations, a wide span the value spectrum from discount to specialty, full-service pharmacies, no-fee banking, affordable Joe Fresh fashion and family apparel; and three of Canada’s top consumer brands with loyalty programs. This means that more than one in every three Canadians is rewarded for shopping with the companies.

Marjane – these stores are large and accommodating Moroccan supermarkets with household goods, toys, and other department similarly to Wal-Mart. Their produce department includes many international products such as whole rabbit and ramen noodles, for example.

Super Indo –this is one of almost two dozen national chain stores throughout Indonesia and is included as part of the global Food Lion grocery chain under the Delhaize Group.

They offer a large variety of organic food which is developed locally and produced naturally. The food does not contain drugs, genetic engineering, no growth hormones, no antibiotics, no vaccinations, and more. In essence, organic foods are foods that are produced naturally, back again to what our ancestors have done hundreds of years ago.

Tamimi Markets–this store chain is the exclusive source in Saudi Arabia for Tesco products which are trusted by millions throughout Europe and the Middle East including the Safeway brand from North America. Additionally, they include exclusive brands from Siviero Maria and Kirkland Signature. Tamimi Markets includes a wide range of international produce, meats, packaged foods, and household items from the North America, Europe, Latin America, and Oceana.

The Global Food – this chain specializes in selling Korean, American, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Central American, and South American food. One of their stores includes a large Latino food store and includes a variety of shops such as a gift shop, a women' dress shop, a Latino music shop, a jeweler, and a Spanish restaurant.

Korean and other international foods and are owned and operated by Supermax, a global food logistics center. They believe that to keep prices competitive, they must deal directly with farmers for produce and innovate their existing systems to change with the times – a good neighbor, good friend, and global food.

TodoDia – this chain of superstores is owned and operated by the Wal-Mart Group. They offer a variety of products including food, hygiene, cleaning items, frozen, dairy, butcher, bakery, and house wares. They serve almost all of South America and they strive to be good stewards of energy and water regarding their stores. Their business model is simple - without losing sight of the well-being of people and the preservation of the environment and in everything we do, we are driven by our mission to sell for less and help people to live better.
