Why does GM think they have to be so involved? They are like that friends parents in high school that are WAY too involved. Just get out of our way and let us sell some cars. I can't help but think that a majority of dealers have to be smarter than they let on to be. With GM buying Google ad words, and making us compete against ourselves, forcing us to have a Cobalt site, and now taking over our Yelp, Google Places, and other information sites, when will enough be enough?
I must admit that I am not the smartest man in the world, not really in the top million, but I am a huge fan of the KISS method. If a dealer wants to be found on the internet and they have someone with the knowledge of how to make it happen, and they want to invest in it, then so be it. If they do not want to make the investment, then get out of the game. I have spent lots of time and money to get where I am today. I can thank guys like Joe Webb, Ralph Paglia, Phil Zellinger, Rob Lange, and several others.
Would it be out of line for me to ask GM to attend just one actual conference to try and learn how the big boys do it? We have other OEM's in our dealer group, and when I speak to those internet directors/managers they do not have these kinds of issues.
General Motors needs to mind their own friggin business, and let those of us who KNOW how to sell cars and advertise do just that. If you are not capable, then maybe you do not need to be in the game in the 21st century.
Ok...My rant is done...I just had to get that off my chest. If I didn't believe in Chevy so much, I would have to go work for some other franchise. Any and all comments are welcome.
