Winners vs. Losers: Winners Say - If it is to be, it is up to me

Some of the finest people I know are in the retail automotive business.  Many of them are folks I’ve met as I travel throughout North America and Canada doing car sales training or teaching our Dealership management training courses.  It is a great privilege to be in an industry filled with people who want to discover the secret to becoming winners.  When I started my company in 1986, my goal was to make a mark on the industry that would provide educational materials for those who work in retail automotive on how to become the best they could be for themselves and for their Customers.

Automotive selling is a highly competitive industry in which you will find every level of success from the status quo to great high-earning achievers.  Yet, even with as many books that have been written about success and achievement, most people in our business still do things the way they’ve always done them.  Their automotive sales training started with what they learned in their first Dealership and they still do things the same way today.

Thankfully, this is changing due to the work of our organization and others like us, as well as the fact that the demands of Customers are changing.  In order to succeed with today’s informed Customers, we have to find new ways to earn their business or they will go somewhere else to buy.

When I talk about winners and losers, I’m not talking about a person’s natural abilities as much as I am the philosophies they live by and the ideals which motivate their life.  Anyone can become a winner if they will practice proven principles of success and continue to change and grow through learning and developing the right mindset and the right skills.  I believed that when I started this company and I still believe it today.  In fact, I am more convinced today because of the numerous people who have taken our Dealership Training courses and studied our training curriculum and have seen their careers rise to higher levels of achievement and success.

Likewise, I know that those who do nothing to change and grow their abilities will remain at the same level of success they have already experienced.  In order to achieve more, you must learn more.  Success doesn’t happen by chance in most cases, and even when it does, it cannot be considered winning ― that’s just luck.  Winners in the retail automotive business are generally created by the type of training curriculum they align themselves with and how much they implement what they are learning.

There will always be winners and losers in life and each of us must decide which we want to be.  The goals we set and the actions we take to achieve them will in most cases, be the deciding factor for our success or failure.  Winning is not rocket science, but it is something that must be taken seriously if success is the goal you have in mind for yourself and your career.
