There is no longer any doubt about the need for a digital presence.  If you want to improve your market share here are a few things a dealer can do today.

Require each department head to write a blog once a month.  (This should include the GM or Dealer.)

Require each employee that interacts with the public to maintain a page on some social media platform.

Make sure the Dealership maintains a Facebook page and a twitter page.  (updates are important.)

Each department should create videos that are posted on you-tube.

Create a simple power-point presentation that hi-lites your current dealership specials, parts, service and sales, then load them onto digital picture frames placed around the dealership.  (A digital evidence manual)  Do not forget your community activities.

Post each blog so that they are evenly spread over the course of the month.  Focus on direction of the dealership, vision, customer experience.  Try to avoid specific pricing other than rebates or other factory incentives.  Please make sure that all of the social media pages and your main web pages have links to the blog posts as well.

Post the videos of your sales people walking around a car, a mechanic making a repair, a greeting in the service drive, the cashier process.  The limit is only your imagination.  Make sure these videos are linked to every-ones prospecting pages, and the dealerships main social media page or platform as well.

For all of the social media (prospecting) pages, they should each link to your company web site at least once a week, and should post the accomplishments of the various departments. (John doe just sold an engine for this customers project, Jane doe just helped this fine couple get their first new car, Jim in service just fixed a hard to find problem.)

The Dealerships main social media page should be linked from your web site (follow us on twitter or like our facebook page), all of the blog posts and should feature the better of the posts from all of the prospecting social media pages.  You can take it one step further by establishing your own social media platform, like this one for all of your customers.

The digital picture frames can be placed at every sales-persons desk, the parts counter and the service lounge.  Even the reception desk and cashiers station.

All of these efforts will bring to the community an interest in your dealership that is unique.  It will also move you up in the relevancy of automotive online searches in your area, without cost.  The digital picture frames will allow all of your customers to know what may be for them from a department they are not visiting on this trip to the dealer.

These efforts are inexpensive and will bring hundreds of new prospects to your dealership for service, parts or sales.  If you get started today who knows what success is waiting tomorrow.
