I’m sitting at the Cleveland Airport waiting on my flight back home to Tampa after wrapping up multiple presentations in this wonderful city. The downtown resurgence is strong and everywhere we went the people were friendly. Now, this brings me to these pertinent video facts. One of the key strengths of video, when compared with text, is that video has the ability to capture and convey emotion. Most of us are familiar with the sales cycle of “Know … Like … Trust” to complete a sale. Video can actually broach this sales cycle without your ever meeting your audience in person through “See it!… Hear it! … Trust it!”. Little imagination is required to see how an effective social media marketing campaign using video as the delivery medium can accelerate the entire process. Your audience gets to know you, like you and possibly trust you before you actually have that first one-to-one meeting. How you choose to communicate in video can vary. Customer Testimonials, Employee/Team Testimonial, Customer Reviews, Infomercials and Community Engagement Stories are just a few forms your videos can take.
It wasn’t long ago that the phrase “word of mouth advertising” actually meant a friend telling a friend or neighbor telling a neighbor. We are living in a time where our “digital connections”, personal and professional, have replaced the traditional one-to-one engagement. We value, trust and respect the opinions of those we are connected with, and in many cases seek out their comments before making decisions. Video inherently provides both a face and a voice to a message; therefore, it’s easy to understand why video has a much more profound impact over simple text.
