Thanks for the original post Manny.
Elmer was a giant. I have audio of J. Douglas Edwards (another giant) quoting Elmers "Don't Write, Telegraph" and audio of Jackie Cooper (everybody knows him) quoting J. Douglas quoting Elmer. Both J. Douglas and Jackie use the same verbatim quote.
Elmer Wheeler established sales training institutes all across the country and at one point being a graduate of his schools virtually guaranteed a high paying sales job in most industries.
Selling is selling but Elmer was an enlightened individual that originated many of the techniques still used by todays professional sales people.
Here's another very short video of Don't Sell the Steak http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4sAGHQCPu8
I did not know that Mike..
Thanks
Tested Sentences That Sell was the largest selling book on sales for decades, outselling all other books on sales combined. Elmer Wheeler once filled the Cotton Bowl in Texas for a sales seminar.
His book Tested Sentences That Sell can be read online at www.elmerwheelerbooks.com
This video is relating one of the success stories from the book.

Ok,so this was filmed ...50 years ago perhaps?....and remind me again, what's changed?.....I'm sorry I am just so sick of the new this and that....selling is and always will be very simple.
But Craig ,people wont "fall for this stuff"...the internet, blah blah blah...people we not dumb then were they? Less information but no less intelligent.
The book the One Minute Sales Person has a quote I love that tells me almost all I have ever needed to know about selling anyone anything "People dont buy our products, services or ideas, they buy how they IMAGINE, using them will make them FEEL!"
I added the caps.....
