True Car and Car Cost Canada do not have much in common.  CCC simply charges a low fee to obtain invoice price. What the dealers sell the vehicle for is up to them.

Grant,

True Car is like Car Cost Canada, and I agree that dealers having information and providing real service to the customer makes all the difference anyway....

Great video as usual.....

Have a great day and a great Christmas Grant!!!!!!!!

Scott Painter had his people call me. Scott Painter wants to have a call with me. What do you all think? Should I do it?  You think he wants to offer me a job?  Perhaps fly me in to show me his operations to try to prove to me that he is legit?  Please let me know your thoughts and opinions.  If anything comes out of this to anyone is that even little ole me can get the personal attention of someone as huge as Scott Painter.  This comes to show you that if you use the internet the right way you can get attention from the way up.

Securing Yahoo is going to give them 10X's the website traffic.  I guess they read Grant's book.

@ Tom Cole:  Wow.  Just wow.  You don't own your own customers any more.  They're TrueCar/Zag customers.

I guess they're getting ready for when they put dealers out of business; see the video below:

Grant,
I agree with a transparent selling philosophy and will advocate the new processes that go with it. The real danger for Dealers with Zag/TrueCar is their billing process. Prior Dealer/Customer history isn't taken in to account. Example: I submitted a lead with them to examine their process. I leased a new car for my wife and bought a used car for my daughter. They billed me for both! I've been an employee with the Dealership for 21 years!
When I discussed it with our rep he proceeded to tell me it's an automated process and prior dealer relationships are not considered. Another example was a customer that has purchased vehicles from us and serviced with us for the past 8 years, they billed us for that lead. The reps response was Service and prior Sales customers are billable.

Grant , it seems like you are in the middle of the road and not saying which one is best for sales people and dealers.  Maybe that's a good thing not to get in the middle.  If this works there won't be good sales people and very few dealers left. According to this guy there won't be a need to train sales people. Their fore trainers { such as you and others } won't be needed and we will be out of business as well. How can you say you get much more for your videos and training because you believe in them and not be against anyone who doesn't believe in profit and keeping America going. Just saying.

Love this quote from the Cleabook 2.0 (TrueCar's used car site, now live)--exactly WHAT does the part I put in bold mean??????

“We get information from dealers and consumer systems; we also buy data from DMS providers. And we’re now seeing it come in from lenders and insurers. It’s also available at state registration tax and title office. Anyone who buys or sells a car leaves a data trail, and understanding this data can be key. This data includes make, model, trim condition, configuration of cars, all down to the ZIP code,” Painter told Auto Remarketing.

This debate has very little to do with "transparent pricing" or "upfront pricing"......I am ALL FOR transparency, building value and giving the customer a reason to do business with your dealership......

HOWEVER............................

The debate is about your dealerships DATA and the protection of it. Your data is your GOLD!!....treat it as such.

Truecar is taking your data from you!!!

What is to stop Truecar from acquiring this data and then using it against you by selling it to your competitors down the road???????..............NOTHING!!!!

Please watch Scott Painter tell the group of potential investors that he will use dealerships DMS data!!
