What is the best way to secure a position at a dealership in an area you are moving to?

Here is what I am asking. I want to relocate to a different part of the country where my wife was accepted to a premier college. I did some mystery shopping to the dealerships in the area, and let’s just say the responses were not good at all. I am the Internet Director of our store and my department is responsible for bringing in 48% of the deals we deliver. I want to go about this in a professional manner and I don’t want to just send an e-mail to the General Manager or Dealer.  I want to secure a position with a dealership in advance of moving to that area, but usually in our line of work it is a hire today-start tomorrow kind of business.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Bradley

Bradley,

Be candid with the dealer about what you are trying to accomplish and I have a feeling that he or she would welcome someone with your enthusiasm. There is a real shortage of talent in this industry currently and if you are the real deal a career will be no problem. Best of luck.
Thank you for the feedback. I am trying to set something up in the next couple of weeks, but I didn't know if I should pro-act and contact these dealer principals in advance. We just closed out the month and for last month I had a 22.5% leads to delivery ratio and I was responsible for 43.37% of our volume last month. We delivered 83 vehicles and I generated 36 of those sales. I don't know if I should include numbers like this when inquiring to obtain someone's position where I am I going.

Is there a time when you are going to this area with your wife to visit the school or is there someone you know in this area that can give you some insight on the sealers in this area. Or you can ask on here what dealers are recommended in this area.
Thank you Scott-
