Resumes and Applications in Desk Drawers
In 20 dealerships across the country each week our recruiter trainers ask for and find numerous resumes and apps from people that had come in at one time or another looing for a position at the dealership.Now where they find these is a discussion all by it's own.
These apps and resumes are typically from people that dropped them off when you were tied up with the 1000 things that need to be handled each day at the dealership,but in many cases these are people from your community that need work, want to improve their current situation and have come to you for help! What message does it send out if we don't take each one of these seriously?
I can't count the number of times over the last 12 years that one of our trainers has called on these resumes or apps, brought the people in for a professional interview,put them through an initial training class and graduated them.Then when presented to the dealer they get hired and go on to become a top salesperson at the dealership......Acres of Diamonds my friends!

Is this a sign of the times.
As dealers are forced to run 'leaner and meaner,' are the the resources to manage hiring, training and developing getting too thin.

It is a matter in most cases of no time and heck, managers are and should be the cash register of the store....they do what they do best....we handle the rest?
