Remembering Sept. 11
Greeting friends, how will your dealership commemorate this important date in our nations history? Will you have a huge sale? Will you take a moment to meet with your staff and discuss the solemn importance of this date? Will you out of respect for those lost, close your doors?
I am just curious as to how we address this date, as for me. I think not conducting business as usual is the way to go. Having several dear friends that are no longer with us, and knowing how it has personally affected me, I choose to not conduct business on this day. I understand that this may result in a loss of some sales this month, but I don't know. I beleive the simple fact that the dealership does not do business on this day speaks volumes to the community.
I would love to hear other ideas how to honor this day. I have no pre-conceived notions, and certainly don't hold anything against those that do business. Know my friends that I respect all of your opinions, and value your input.

Your words are from the heart. (My eyes are tearing up as I attempt to respond... MUCH RESPECT).
The terrorists responsible for 911, often referred to as "muslim male extremists", are working harder than ever. When they're not planning future attacks they're recruiting, even on U.S. soil, 24-7. They would LOVE for American business' to "close the doors" on 911 as a tribute to the victims of their attack.
The heroes of 911... in the air, on the ground, the last thing they would want is for their surviving friends/relatives to pass-up business for a day in tribute to them.
If anything, develop a plan that benefits U.S. Veterans on this day, every year... and BRAND it! You already have the passion. If you're generating revenue on 911 that goes to support the men and women defending this country and their families, who have sacrificed so much to defend this country and to defend those overseas who simply desire to be free... that's us man... THAT's America!
THAT'S what the late heroes of 911 would appreciate!!

Thank you for your response. You hit some very valid points, to donate the days revenue to the soldiers, sailors, and marines would be most appropriate. The point of not letting this act affect our U.S. establishment is well raised and respected.
I will certainly keep this in mind, and although I currently find this is a time to reflect on the importance, of freedom, life, and family, I may well incorporate your ideas in the future.

We are not only flying our Flag as we do everyday but it will be at 1/2 staff to honor those who have lost lives not only that dreadful day but the lives since combatting the terorist.

Thank you all for your input on this subject. We were all greatly affected by this day in 2001, not only in the car business, but accross our great nation.My only purpose in posting this forum was to have us take a few moments to actually reflect on how it has affected our own lives. Some may have been more affected than others, but rest assured we have all been affected.
When I exit our car business, my full intention is to run for our United States Senate. I appreciate your future support, and respect your individual opinions. I am very much conservative, with a deep love of less government regulation and taxation. I will be hitting you all up in about 6 years.
