I was wondering if anyone could give some sound advice toward what the best of the best are using in terms of new car lead generators.

Also, what do you feel is the benchmark for closing percentage should be on third party leads?

All the answers and help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Matt Kelly

Would love to help you out here , up until recently I was the Internet Sales Director for Trophy Nissan in Mesquite,TX where my internet dept sold on average 180 new cars per month . I would be more than happy to set some time aside for you if you'd like and share some ideas with you as far as lead generation is concerned .

Trophy was one of my best clients in the sub prime lead department. You guys run a fantastic operation and know the value of an exclusive Internet Lead. Any advice coming from this dealership I would listen very intently to and make every effort to incorporate it into my Daily Routine!

Thanks Jeffrey , and couldn't agree more exclusive leads are by far the best quality of the 3rd party leads . How many people here remember Zag back from like 2005-2007 when only allowed 1 franchise per territory . I think I closed those close to 30% and averaged almost $3K per copy front/back ( WAY BEFORE TRUECAR ).

I was using Autobytel in the late 1990's on an exclusive basis in Southern California when I headed up one of the very first ALL Internet Dealer Sales Environments for a Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership. A stand alone building with NO UPS all Internet Appointments. Walk ins were shown how to access our exclusive Internet pricing offers with a home computer. Closing ratios were never much higher than 25% but sales volume and a $2.5K per copy average was over the top.

Mr. Kelly, what brands do you carry?  Depending on the manufacturer, you may be wasting your money on 3rd party leads.  Over the past year, 3rd party new car lead programs have changed as manufacturers have rallied behind them.  What once was a lucrative advantage, especially for larger dealers with a large new car inventory, is now just part of everyday business.  If you are a GM dealer, I wouldn't pay the money.  You will receive leads that you would have otherwise received from the manufacturer. The real kicker is these extra leads could actually cost you sales because they will take the focus away from the important and hot leads.

All that said, AutoUsa has been the best performer of any company that I tried.  Three of the four mentioned by Eric performed at 50% of AutoUsa at my old department in Iowa.
