"Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand ... Then stand firm, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist." -Ephesians 6:11
Standing firm when we believe we need to do something good, believing we can do it even when we are up against one challenge after another, requires that we protect our minds and our hearts, and that we protect ourselves against the lies that will threaten to derail us.
If you have a God-given dream, it will be a dream that is so big that it will require God's miraculous intervention to see it become a reality. It is only possible with His help. That means that it will be so big that there will be others - maybe even family and friends and loved ones - who will try to dissuade you for fear that you will fail. After all, God-given dreams are impossible - they require His help - that's how we know they are God-given dreams. If we were able to do it on our own, if we didn't need God to help us, even to bail us out, then we could get the credit for it.
So, you can expect lies to bombard you. Family and friends don't think they are lying. They think they are protecting you from embarrassment. That's why you can expect most of the lies to come from you and from those closest to you. The lies go something like this: "You're too old." "You lack the necessary experience." "That's so risky - you could lose everything." "It costs so much - you could go bankrupt." "You aren't talented enough."
The truth is, when God gives a dream, there is no one who wants to see it become a reality more than God! He wants you to succeed at this more than anyone! As such, He will provide you with the ideas, the help, the resources you need. He will provide the faith and He will protect you from the lies that would discourage you or cause you to limit your dreams and maybe even give up. Listen to the voice that tells you, "Dream big! You can do anything with My help!" That's the truth and nothing but the truth!
Tuck God's truths in your belt of truth before leaving the house in the morning. Truths such as, "You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Or, "He Who has begun a good work in you will complete it."
Choose this day to Whom you will listen! Listen to God's truth and nothing but His truth!
