Regarding Sales Hours:  Should sales consultants be scheduled to work ding to dong or be offered job sharing or flexible schedules?  What does each of these scenarios mean to the auto industry and attracting quality sales consultants?  What would this mean to attracting more females to entertain a rewarding career in automotive sales?

Bell to bell has ruined more families than you could possibly believe, making that occasional sale after 8 PM very expensive. We are attempting to teach our new trained sales consultants to do more prospecting and setting appointments
In my opinion to make this a true profession managable hours will be required.
I agree Rick and I appreciate your opinion. There is a real high divorce rate with car salespeople ...good dealers know happy employees make more productive employees and will be retained longer, leading to customer retention, leading to repeat business and referrals..and eventually finding its way to the bottom line!

Thanks so much!

Me? bell to bell and sell 30 cars a mouth !Send my mailers out the first week of the mouth and take OFF 5 days!
Then do it again!
All my sales managers were really big on bell to bell! That's what you needed to do, to be sucessful in the car biz! If you wanted to be a sales manager you had to put in the time. I wanted to be a sales manager one day so I started to work bells all the time. The hard part for me was that they ALL( sales managers and top sales people) had 2-4 ex- wives and kids they never saw! I had not been married to my 1st wife yet, so I needed to get married and divorced 2-4 times and work bells to be sucessful? Now I get it, NOT! I have dealers that have a performance based schedules. If you sell __ amount of cars you work your hours. If you dont you work mine... Its win-win.

People need to have a balanced approach to life. They need time to work on family, fitness, relaxation and spiritual growth. All work and no play... Sound familiar??

Love the way you put that Paul Hardy! We must work SMART, which doesn't mean 12-15 days everyday! That equates to burnout and low morale, brutal effect to the family, and spiritual and physical health as well! Thanks for your reply!

The cost of those hours.and after all those hours we get to go to that 90 minute sales meeting where we learn

that everything that went wrong is the sales people fault. The answer is GIVE THE SALES PEOPLE MORE HOURS.

One word....Insanity!!!!
