I asked this question this morning on Face Book,lots of great answers....what would dE folks add?

Ink pen.

Good traininig, and some common sense wouldn't hurt either. Also a pen and Business cards.

The mental fortitude to do what they know they should, the desire to always be better than themselves and the the need to always go beyond what the customer expects.

The will to want and plenty of help to get it.

Already successful,- to be green and growing!

Commitment!! Commitment to the profession, commitment to the store, commitment to the sales process, to themselves and on and on and on...

Superior Training, two good ears, perfect practice, a mentor, a duplicatable process, clients, attitude and Commitment and the support of your family...

Honesty and Integrity!

Compassion and the desire to serve in order to get paid! :)

That is a hard one for most it seems....what do you suggest Tom as a way salespeople can actually achieve that at a store?

All the answers are great, but the truly successful salesperson has a combination of everything. Without the proper attitude going in, nothing will get accomplished. It certainly isn't easy Craig, or we'd have zero turnover with the most successful people on earth selling cars.  Doesn't AutoMax continue to commit to turning over recruits "with no bad habits" to a dealership?  Where do the bad habits come from and how can we eliminate them?  ASC  is about developing synergized positive habit example teams that strengthens and matures positive habits in all.  This is a work in progress.  And you know better than most, my friend, my passion for synergy in our business!   So, my updated answer to your question is: "a synergized team of equally committed professionals supporting each others positive habit examples."

The total desire to sell, close, ask for refurrals and provide a great coustomer experience. The ability to do this every day.

A fall down, get back up attitude.
Drive/Motivation....nothing else matters without it.  You can put 3 different people in the same situation with the same tools and get 3 different results.  There is a reason for that.....
