I'm sure that this has been a question that pops up ever other month or so, but looking to get some good user-experienced feedback with regards to a dealer's inventory management software.
Currently, 75% of our dealer clients are using DealerTrack's "eCarList" platform for most of their inventory management. They have, and have really always had a kick-ass eBay Listing tool, and prior to being acquired, they had a wonderful reputation for support, fixing of bugs, and the like.
The last 6 months, it's turned into a project of baby-sitting. As I write this, it's 1:30 in the morning on a Sunday night/Monday morning, and I've just spent the last hour cross-referencing multiple sites to verify that all the correct photos are going where they need to go. There's a number of issues that we are experiencing that I won't go into here, but my basic goal is to try and identify 2-3 solid inventory management software providers to provide as options to our clients. There are few items that need to be available:
- Decent quality eBay Motors Listing Tool with the ability to extract customer contact info.
- Easy to use interface (some of my clients are not very tech-savvy)
- Solid track record of performance with minimal downtime
- Ability to modify inventory from anywhere, as opposed to in-dealer only.
- Able to decipher proper model "VIN String" via a Model Code from R&R/ADP
Currently, I've got VinSolutions and HomeNet for providers that we have experienced, but wondering if there are any more quality tools out there? Not terriby impressed with the Liquid Motors tool (sorry for you Liquid Motors fans).
What are you liking? What are your gripes? Since I'm the person who ends up dealing with the brain damage of it all, I want to know just how much Excedrin to buy when I'm updating my inventory.
Thanks!
Ed
