You have a loyal group of followers right? They love the content you email out or blog about and share it religiously with their friends. Problem is, that loyal group of followers is pretty darn small. So how do you get your word out there? Recruit…

Found this post on one of my social media news feeds one afternoon. "Two hundred inactive FB 'friends' going today so I can make room for those that want to play here. SeeYa.' This statement was posted by someone I consider a fairly savvy promoter, especially in social media, for a highly visible organization. Of course,…

When the topic of SEO comes up, many people envision HTML code and meta tag adjustments. They think of keyword stuffing. They consider the bounds set by the OEM of what they can and cannot do with their websites and how far they can push the boundaries to extend their market reach.
They don't usually imagine finding…

One evolutionary reason for magical thinking is just our tendency to see patterns in the world and to read meaning into them. We’re so good at it that we often read meaning into patterns that really isn’t’ there. So we see faces in the clouds or we hear messages in records played backwards. We tend to see connections between our thoughts and things outside in the world and see correlation and even causation there. So for instance, if you think…

Social media is a visual experience. Sure, there are great links. There are insightful comments. There are cool videos. All of these are important, but for the most engagement, photos rule.
The video below is a short portion of our webinar titled, "…

Welcome to Part 2 of what is a major real live hands on case study. Last week I wrote Part 1. For those of you that missed it, click here to catch up on what you may have missed.
We ended last week with starting to get more social media plans installed. We also started a picture and video policy. However, The major thing was…

I was amazed to learn that, during the research phase, customers spend 17 to 19 hours, on the internet, before visiting a dealership. Much of that involves vehicle comparisons but anyone is naive if they don't think that price is a chief consideration. A recent Cobalt study stated that the average consumer visited eight dealership websites. These customers tend to be at the bottom of the sales funnel. At this point, they should have narrowed it down to a…

This is one of those topics in which everyone will have an opinion. Some will agree in part and disagree with other components, but the hope is to stir up some discussion on the topic. We've tested these ideas and continue the constant flow of more testing; social media is always changing.
Before going much…

Over the past 20 years we have asked less and less of our salespeople. They don't handle phone calls, they don't handle internet leads, they don't network or prospect for new business and in some cases they don't even deliver the cars they have sold.
I feel the main reason for this is that the high salesman's turnover have left us with, at best nice greeters. We all know the old adege "you get what you pay for". A quality person who wants to try automobile sales leaves because he…

We rented an RV for fall break. We had a great four-day weekend – with the exception of driving the RV. The shocks were completely shot. I’d say it wallowed like a pig in mud, but I think mud has more damping power than those shocks did. The 600 highway miles were a white knuckle experience. Bumps sent the coach bobbing and sudden blasts of wind completely…

Did you catch the presidential debate this week? It was of the more intense events from any recent election. The candidates appeared as though they might drop the mics and go for blood any second. Luckily, it didn’t come to that, but there was another group waiting in the wings, poised to pounce at the first opportunity. Of course we’re talking about the cyber-snipers, the…
